Festival of the Arts

 

Thanks to funds raised from the Sponsored Sing in December 2018, we have been able to organise an amazing array of art workshops & programmes for Summer 2019!

 

Check out below what our students will be up to over the next few weeks.

'BURY IN BLOOM' ART WORKSHOP

Art Installation

Guildhall Feoffment will be working with Rojoart to make a large installation artwork for the school hall using the donated picture frames

 

'The Wardrobe' Writing Workshop

The students will be introduced to 'The Wardrobe' and will be encouraged to touch it, walk around it, open it, talk about it and find the interesting artefacts within. They will then return to their classrooms to create a story together about the wardrobe.

 

 

 

 

EMMANUEL ART WORKSHOPS

Tue 11th June

The Pentecost Party Celebration

 The children will take part in reflective story telling, finding symbols around the Cathedral, music activities and art activities. The day will have a party atmosphere so children are asked to dress in bright clothes to celebrate the birthday of the church.

ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE

Wed 12th June

Local artists will set up an area of the school hall where they will display and demonstrate their craft for the children to explore and learn about.

Each class will be choosing one famous picture to reproduce in their own ways as well as finding out about the artist.

SHAKESPEARE TAKEOVER FESTIVAL

Much Ado About Nothing

Theatre Royal

Years 5 & 6

 

Performance: 25th June, 7pm, Theatre Royal BSE

Years 5/6 students are bringing their version of William Shakespear’s Much Ado About Nothing to Theatre Royal stage. Under the leadership of highly experienced Drama Facilitator Annie Eddington, the school have watched a professional production and been taking part in workshops in order to create their response to share with you.

Half Moon Theatre (in collaboration with Theatre Royal BSE) present their touring shows within the school, followed by workshops.

Workshop follows on Wed 26th June at Theatre Royal BSE which will include a tour of the building & a small performance in front of other schools.

BIG SING

St. Edmundsbury Cathedral

 The Big Sing is a singing event with a celebration theme. It will involve the use of film clips. movement and dance as an inspiration to sing songs from around the world. Workshops will include songs from different genres and the day will finish with a performance with all the children singing together.

ALSO FEATURING...

 

 

Auditions will be taking place in classrooms throughout June, and teachers will choose 2 children from every class to take part in the final showcase.

 

FINAL SHOWCASE

Thursday 4th July

Years 1, 2 & 3: 5pm - 6pm

Years 4, 5 & 6: 6.30pm - 7.30pm

 

This will be a ticketed event and details will be sent out at a later date.

 

The runner up and winner of the competition will be asked to perform their act at The Summer BBQ to be held on Friday 12th July 2019.
